iPhone’s Proxy Settings
Setting up a proxy on an iPhone allows you to route your device's internet traffic through a specific server. This can be useful for various purposes, such as accessing content restricted in your region, ensuring privacy, or for network testing.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to implementing a proxy on an iPhone:
Step 1: Open Settings
On your iPhone, open the "Settings" app, which has an icon resembling gears.
Step 2: Access Wi-Fi Settings
- Scroll down and tap on "Wi-Fi" to view available Wi-Fi networks.
2. Connect to the Wi-Fi network you want to configure the proxy for if you haven't already done so. Simply tap on the network name and enter the password if required.
Step 3: Configure Wi-Fi Network
Find the Wi-Fi network you are connected to (there will be a checkmark next to its name). Tap the "i" icon next to the network's name to access its settings.
Step 4: Scroll to Proxy Settings
Scroll down to the bottom of the Wi-Fi network settings page until you see the "HTTP Proxy" section.
Step 5: Choose Proxy Configuration
- You will see two options: "Off" and "Configure Proxy". Tap on "Configure Proxy" to change it from "Off" to "Manual" or "Automatic":
a. Manual: If you select this option, you will need to enter the proxy server details manually.
b. Automatic: This option requires a URL to a proxy configuration file (PAC file) that your iPhone will use to configure the proxy settings automatically.
- For our purposes, we’ll be selecting "Manual". This option allows you to enter the proxy server details yourself.
Step 6: Enter Proxy Details (for Manual Setup)
- If you chose "Manual", input the proxy server's address in the "Server" field and the port number in the "Port" field. You can get the information from your Geonode dashboard. Copy the address indicated in your 'Host' by clicking on the copy icon.
- Enter the IP address and port number of your proxy server in the fields provided. Port Number: 9001 (This is the specific port you'll need to use for the connection. Make sure to enter it exactly as shown.)
- If the proxy requires a username and password, toggle "Authentication" on and enter your credentials.
- Once all details are entered, tap "Save" at the top right corner of the screen.
Step 7: Save and Test
- After setting up the proxy, exit back to the home screen and try accessing the internet through your browser or any app.
- If the proxy is working correctly, your internet traffic should now be routed through the specified proxy server.
